I’ve always had the need to create. Sometimes that need has led me to write poetry or songs. Painting was my outlet for a while. I’ve explored a myriad of crafts. When I discovered metalworking/jewelry making, I found my true creative passion.
I don’t like production, so I rarely use a design more than once. I don’t like to restrict myself to one particular style. Mentors have told me to develop a signature look and stick with it, but I find that to be boring. I often spread stones and metal out on a table and let them tell me what they want to become. It amazes me how scraps of metal, and sometimes found objects, can be combined and transformed into a cohesive work of wearable art.
The bottom line is that as long as I’m creating something that I consider to be interesting, I’m a happy person. If you like it, that’s even better!
